What Happened:

An employee from Nemadj Research, a contractor that provides patient eligibility and billing services to the LA County Health Department, had fallen victim to a phishing email hack on March 28th of this year, according to a press release by Nemadj Research.


What Type of Data was Exposed:

The data that was potentially exposed varies from patient to patient, but may have included info like the patient's names, address, date of birth, phone number, account numbers, medical record numbers, admission and discharge dates, Medi-Cal ID numbers, time of service. Two patients Social Security Numbers and diagnostic codes of four patients were also hacked.


Remember When:

  • LA Times reported in 2016, L.A's Department of Health was targeted in a ransomware attack that raided county computers and stopped users from accessing data.

  • Also in 2016, a Nigerian national used the same phishing technique to hack LA County's emails and exposed the personal data of 750,000+ people.

Billionaire financier and registered sex offender Jerry Epstein has pleaded not guilty on new charges ranging from sex trafficking of underage girls to molestation.


The Indictment:

Within the indictment Epstein is accused of persuading and recruiting "dozens" of underage girls, from 2002 up to 2005, to be "sexually exploited and abused by Epstein "at his homes in Manhattan, New.York, and Palm Beach, Florida, among other locations".

  • Due to the accusations, Epstein will have to forfeit both his New York and Palm Beach estates to federal authorities.

  • Also, within the indictment Epstein is accused of paying a percentage of his victims to “recruit additional girls” and created a “network of underage victims for him to sexually exploit”.

  • Epstein allegedly worked and colluded with employees or associates to pay off victims, get in touch with victims, and plan their sexual encounters with Epstein.

The Charges:

  • One count of sex trafficking of minors.

  • One count of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking of minors.

  • If convicted Epstein would serve 45 years in prison, which carry no mandatory minimum sentences.

Update:

L.B.P.D is has provided video footage regarding the sexual assault that took place Sunday July 7th, in hopes for the public's assistance to identify the suspect.




Details:

A woman was sexually assaulted by a knife wielding male inside of her North Alamitos Beach apartment complex's laundry room sometime around 11:00am Sunday, on the 1000 block of East 7th Street in Long Beach.


The Suspect:

According to L.B.P.D, the suspect has been described as a male Hispanic, between the ages of 20 to 25 years-old, about 5 to 5'3 feet tall, wearing dark clothes.
