L.B.P.D is investigating a fatal early morning single car crash that occurred on Ocean Blvd at the 710 freeway Sunday morning, that resulted in the death of one adult male.

The Investigation:

  • The car was a 2019 Infiniti Q50S was driven by a 35-yearold male resident of New York.

  • According to the L.B.P.D, the accident happened 3:35 am, as the car was traveling northbound on Shoreline Drive "at a high rate of speed", the driver lost complete control of the car and crashed into tree cutting the car in half. The passenger was ejected from the car, later dying from his injuries.

  • The victim is only being identified as an adult male.

Another Cal State Long Beach student has been arrested in connection with the lock-down at C.S.U.L.B

  • Prateek Devulpally, age 18, is accused of hacking into a female student's email account and sending the threatening message that ignited a camps wide lock-down.

  • The original suspected was released.

  • According to ABC 7, Devulpally is currently being held at the Long Beach Municipal Jail on felony counts of making criminal threats and knowingly and without permission uses or causes to be used computer services.

Previously Reported:

C.S.U.L.B campus was placed on lock down after receiving an email that campus police determined to be a "credible threat" and instructed students and faculty to "shelter in place" and others to stay away from the university.


  • The LBP reported that the threatening email was received at 2:10 p.m and causing a lock-down at around 3:40 pm.

  • Students and faculty barricaded themselves in classrooms with desks, overhead projectors and other supplies to block the door.

  • One female suspect is in custody.

One student created a petition on Change.Org titled "Have CSULB produce locking doors for every classroom and facility on campus" with 323 signatures.
