At this time the commission "has not made any determination of the case."

Lets Recap:

Long Beach City Council member Jeannine Pearce is facing accusations of "violating the Political Reform Act’s conflict of interest provision and Statement of Economic Interests disclosure requirements," over allegedly accepting payments and failing to disclose thousands of dollars worth of income from businesses owned or controlled by Daniel Zaharoni, and voting on issues related to those businesses.

  • According to the LBP, The Public Integrity Division of the L.A County District Attorney’s office has also received a complaint against Council-member Pearce.

Speaker Nancy #Pelosi announced on Tuesday afternoon that the House of Representatives will open an impeachment inquiry into President #Trump regarding the Ukraine scandal.

"Today, I'm announcing the House of Representatives is moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry. I'm directing our 6 committees to proceed with their investigations under that umbrella ... The president must be held accountable. No one is above the law "

Making History:

Speaker Pelosi and other establishment Democrats have long resisted calls from progressives to open an impeachment inquiry into Trump, even after the Mueller Report and other controversies.

How did we get here?:

On August 28:

Politico reports that Trump refused to give $250 million in military aide to Ukraine because “in order to ensure the money is being used in the best interest of the United States.”

On September 5th:

The Washington post editorial board wrote "He [Trump] is attempting to force Mr. Zelensky to intervene in the 2020 U.S. presidential election by launching an investigation of the leading Democratic candidate, Joe Biden. Mr. Trump is not just soliciting Ukraine’s help with his presidential campaign; he is using U.S. military aid the country desperately needs in an attempt to extort it."

On September 9th:

Three House Committees opened investigations into reported efforts by President Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and possibly others to pressure the government of Ukraine to assist the President’s reelection campaign.

On September 18th:

The Washington Post reported that a whistle-blower complaint was filed alleging President Trump made some sort of "promise" to a foreign leader during a phone call.

On September 19th:

The Washington Post reported the complaint involves Ukraine.

On September 20th:

Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani said he talked with the Ukrainian President about Joe Biden and Hunter Biden.

On September 23rd:

WAPO reported "Trump suggested that there would be nothing wrong with him withholding funding to a country such as Ukraine if it refused to root out “corruption”."

On September 23th:

Trump confirmed that he pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a July phone call to investigate former Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden.

“The conversation I had was largely congratulatory. It was largely corruption—all of the corruption taking place. It was largely the fact that we don’t want our people, like Vice President Biden and his son, creating to [sic] the corruption already in the Ukraine,” - Trump at the U.N.G.A

Trump's Response:

  • The White House announced plans to release the transcript of his July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Biden says "This president should stop stonewalling."

Rep. John Lewis, who has been hesitant to start impeachment processing, is now calling for an inquiry to began.

Bernie Sanders via Twitter "I hope the judiciary committee... will began the impeachment process"

In the letter dated Sept 9th:

The letter alleges that Council-member Pearce "violated the Political Reform Act’s conflict of interest provision and Statement of Economic Interests disclosure requirements" over allegedly accepting payments and not fully disclosing the money from "business entities owned or controlled by Daniel Zaharoni".

Mr. Zaharoni is a property developer and attorney, who is, according to his LinkedIn page, the chief developer at Urban Commons a "privately-held real estate investment and development firms" that has multiple properties including the Queen Mary Hotel.

Here's the Complaint:

  • According to the Press-Telegram, an independent review of Pearce’s sources of income and her votes while on the panel found she violated Long Beach municipal's conflict-of-interest policy.

  • The person who filed the complaint is Ian Patton, a Long Beach area political consultant, who served as the recall’s campaign manager against Pearce in 2018.

  • Council-member Pearce will be notified within days whether the F.P.P.C would either open a investigation, assign the complaint to another agency; or the commission won't take any action at all.
