1 dead, 1 injured in a drive-by shootings in North LB; suspects still at large



One person was killed, and another was injured in a drive-by shooting Wednesday night in North Long Beach, authorities said.


Details:

Officials believe the two victims were gathered with two other people in front of an apartment complex located on Ackerfiled Avenue when a dark-colored vehicle approached. One of the occupants from inside the car began shooting towards the group and then fled the area. Police are investigating the incident as a gang-related shooting.

  • The police arrived about 10:30 p.m. after receiving several 9-1-1 calls regarding gunfire.

  • Kenneth Cornett, a 27-year-old resident of Bell Gardens, was shot and would later die at the scene.

  • The second victim was wounded in the lower body and was transported to a nearby hospital.

  • The vehicle was last seen heading northbound toward South Street.
