1 Dead, 1 Injuried After a Shooting in West Long Beach
One man is dead, and another person is recovering in the hospital after a shooting in the Lower Westside neighborhood of Long Beach Friday.
Long Beach Police spokesperson Allison Gallagher says at about 2:00 a.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Canal regarding a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found an adult male who was "laying on the ground next to the street" suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. He would later be declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
Officers found the second victim after following a trail of blood to an alley. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
Detectives surmised the victims and the suspect was involved in some verbal altercation before the shooting occurred.
The suspect left the crime scene before police arrived.
