52-year-old man killed in a hit-&-run crash near the L.A River in Long Beach



Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash near the service road that accesses the Los Angeles County River Bed north of Willow Street Sunday evening.


Details:

Authorities said police were sent to the scene at about 5:25 p.m. to assist LBFD personnel concerning a hit-and-run traffic accident between a vehicle and pedestrian.

  • According to the preliminary report, the victim suffered injuries to his upper and lower torso, compatible with being hit by a car.

  • The car that hit the pedestrian fled the scene before police arrived, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

  • At this time, the victim is only known to be a 52-year-old male Long Beach resident. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office is identifying the victim and notifying the next of kin.
