52-year-old man killed in a hit-&-run crash near the L.A River in Long Beach
Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash near the service road that accesses the Los Angeles County River Bed north of Willow Street Sunday evening.
Authorities said police were sent to the scene at about 5:25 p.m. to assist LBFD personnel concerning a hit-and-run traffic accident between a vehicle and pedestrian.
According to the preliminary report, the victim suffered injuries to his upper and lower torso, compatible with being hit by a car.
The car that hit the pedestrian fled the scene before police arrived, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
At this time, the victim is only known to be a 52-year-old male Long Beach resident. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office is identifying the victim and notifying the next of kin.
