8-Hour Standoff Ends In Lakewood, Suspect Under Arrest.

The L.A County Sheriff's Department engaged in an hourlong standoff with a burglary suspect who barricaded himself in a house with an assault rifle in Lakewood.
What Happened:
According to the LASD spokesperson Trina Schrader, the incident occurred Sunday at 9:30 a.m., when a tenant came home to find an intruder inside their home with a gun and called authorities, leading the suspect to barricade himself inside, causing an eight-hour standoff with sheriff's deputies.
The incident occurred in the 5400 block of Spahn Avenue in Lakewood.
LASD used a crisis negotiation team to contact the suspect to end the standoff, per PTLB.
Police evacuated neighboring homes and used tear gas to extract the suspect from the residence.
Robert Arista, a 38-year-old transient, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and burglary. Arista is being held on a $200,000 bail.
