A 40-year-old man stabbed to death in a Long Beach alleyway.

Long Beach police are investigating a stabbing that claimed the life of a 40-year-old man early Sunday morning.


According to a press release, the stabbing occurred Sunday at roughly 3:45 a.m. in an alleyway near the 700 block of Lime Avenue. Police have described the victim as "a male adult in his 40s and was possibly experiencing homelessness in the area."

  • Police say they received a call from a person who said, "they were awoken by a male voice yelling for help, and as they looked towards the direction the voice was coming from, they could see two dark figures running away."

  • When the officers arrived, they came upon a man anguishing in pain from a stab wound to his upper body.

  • The wounded man was transported to a nearby hospital by personnel from the Long Beach Fire Department and would later die.
