Two people survived without injury after the plane they were flying in crash-landed on the Eastbound 91-Freeway in Corona Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Corona Fire Department, a single-engine Piper PA-32 aircraft crashed between Lincoln Ave and Main at about 12:30 p.m.

  • The crash caused a fire on the side of the freeway, which was extinguished by Corona Fire crews.

  • The LA Times reported the aircraft was attempting to land at nearby Corona Municipal Airport, but due to “possible engine trouble” the plane crashed on the freeway, striking a pickup truck.
