A Women Armed with a Knife Fatally Shot by L.B.P.D in Bluff Park

What Happened:

According to L.B.P.D, a woman armed with a utility knife was attempting to stab her mother when police intervened and fatally shot her.

1st Arrival:

L.B.P.D officers were first called to the residence at about 9:41 pm Sunday night, due to a family dispute between a mother and adult daughter on the 200 block of Molino Ave in the Bluff Park neighborhood of Long Beach.

After determining that no actual crime occurred the officers disembarked and left the residence, L.B.P.D said.

2nd Arrival:

At 10:20 p.m, forty minutes later, the mother placed another 9-1-1 call saying that her adult daughter was armed with a knife and was threatening her, L.B.P.D said.

When officers arrived at the residence a second time, they could hear an altercation inside the home. Police entered the home through a broken front window, where they say an officer saw the daughter attempting to stab her mother and was fatally shot by the officer.

After the Shooting:

  • L.B.P.D says a knife was recovered at the scene.

  • The mother did sustain minor wounds but did not require medical attention.

  • The identity of the suspect and the victim is being withheld at this time.
