Southwest's footprint at Long Beach airport expands as the airline claims FedEx's old slot, bumping the low-cost carrier's presence to 35.

FedEx relinquished their slots in September after more than 30-years at Long Beach Airport. Due to the economic fallout by the pandemic, the airport implemented a flight slot moratorium last year, allowing airlines to avoid the minimum flight slot utilization requirement, according to the LB Post.
Last year JetBlue left Long Beach Airport over yearning to conducting international flights, vacating its 17 slots to Southwest.
