UPDATE: LBPD Released Footage of Cops Fatally Shooting an 18-year-old Allegedly Robbing a 7-Eleven

According to the L.B.P.D, the alleged suspect was being followed by undercover LBPD officers. The suspect later identified as 18-year-old Jordan Michael Griffin, was wearing dark clothing and a mask, pointing a fake gun at the store clerk.


The police department asserts that Griffin was ordered to drop his weapon, but "the suspect failed to comply with the officer's orders" and that Griffin turned toward the officers "with gun in hand" and was fatally shot by the gaggle of undercover police.

According to the L.B.P.D, A bystander suffered a minor injury to his upper body when he was struck by a ricochet bullet from an L.B.P.D officers' firearm, during the September 19th robbery of a Long Beach area 7-Eleven.

One of the main suspects of the September 19th armed robbery at Seven-Eleven, Devontae Moore, a 22-year-old resident of Long Beach, is currently being held on a $450,000 bail and was formally charged with; six counts of robbery, one count of attempt robbery, one count of attempt burglary, and one count of assault with a deadly weapon.


What Happened:

According to the LBPD, on Thursday, September 19th, an officer shot and killed an armed suspect they said was trying to rob a business on the 5100 block of East Pacific Coast Highway near the Traffic Circle area of Long Beach.



Details:

  • In the course of surveilling a Nissan Altima, believed to have been involved in a series of armed robberies earlier in the week, when an adult male exited the Altima and entered a 7-Eleven on the 5100 block of East Pacific Coast Highway.

  • The officers followed the suspect into the convenience store and ordered the suspect to drop his gun and surrender and according to the LBPD "the suspect failed to comply and an officer-involved shooting occurred".

  • A second suspect was also arrested, he was later identified as 22-year-old Devontae Moore of Long Beach, who was in the parked Altima was taken into custody and later charged with robbery and is being held on $350,000 bail.
