Compton man arrested for armed robbery in Long Beach

Long Beach police arrested a 56-year-old man Wednesday in connection with a series of armed robberies.


According to a press release, police successfully identified the prime suspect

as 56-year-old Compton resident Bernard Jester.

  • Jester is accused of entering a multiple businesses armed with a gun and demanding cash.

  • Police say Jester is responsible for at least six of the robberies that started between February 26 and July 7.

Jester was captured on March 25, after police observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle and made a traffic stop.

  • He was later charged with having an outstanding warrant, carrying a controlled drug to jail, driving without a license, possession of prohibited paraphernalia, driving with an obstructed view, and possession narcotics.

  • LBPD detectives later arrested Jester and charged him with second-degree robbery.
