East Long Beach Police Shooting: what we know so far

The Long Beach Police Department launched an investigation after one of their officers shot a man who they claim was armed with a knife Friday morning in East Long Beach, per multiple reports.
Details: The incident took place after officers responded at 8:20 a.m., to a parked car near Los Coyotes Diagonal near Woodruff Avenue regarding a person armed with a knife. However, when officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the man was holding a gun.
The department says, after numerous tries to mitigate the situation. At least one cop shot the man, striking him in his upper torso.
Fox 11 reported the suspect was sent to the hospital; his medical status remains unknown.
