False reports of an active shooter at the Ontario Mills Mall caused mass panic in one of the nation’s largest shopping centers, the Ontario Police Department announced Saturday night.


Details:

Ontario Fire tweeted at 7:30 p.m, that officers were responding to the mall after multiple people reported shoppers were ‘sheltering in place,' and gunfire.

  • Ontario Police Chief Mike Lorenz took to Twitter to alert the public that “Reports of an active shooter at the Ontario Mills Mall is false,” and that “The mall is safe.”

  • Later, the Ontario Fire Department tweeted that the mall has been cleared.

  • No evidence of a suspect was found, Ontario Police said, but also urged people to stay away from the mall while authorities investigated, per Fox 11.
