Garage fire burns house near Long Beach City College

Long Beach firefighters extinguished a 2nd alarm fire at a house in the Lakewood Village neighborhood of Long Beach early Saturday morning.


The blaze occurred in the garage and then spread to the attached house just before 7 a.m., on the 4100 block of Greenbrier Road.

  • LBFD spokesperson Brian Fisk told the Post that three adults and one child were inside the house, but they escaped into the backyard.

  • One person was treated & released for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.

  • The fire department posted a picture on Twitter of a car parked in front of a fire hydrant with a firehouse laced on top of the hood, writing, "Parking in front of a fire hydrant can slow us down...sometimes."
