Hit-&-Run In West Long Beach Leaves One Man Dead

A Long Beach man is dead after a hit and run collision in West Long Beach Thursday night.

Long Beach Police say the incident occurred on Dec. 22. in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Harbor Avenue at roughly 8:20 a.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a comatose adult male in the street suffering from injuries resulting from the crash.
The officers provided first aid until Long Beach Fire personnel arrived, who would also continue to administer medical attention and transport the injured man to a nearby hospital.
Investigators are saying a driver of a blue Honda Civic hit the pedestrian and "failed to yield" as the man was crossing the street on P.C.H "in a marked crosswalk," and the driver continued on their way heading east on P.C.H.
On Dec. 31, 2020, the Long Beach Police Department was informed the victim passed away at the hospital. The victim was identified as 62-year-old Long Beach resident James Herbert Lee Jones.
