The House Judiciary Committee approved the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act of 2019 or MORE Act, a bill that would remove marijuana from the list of Schedule 1 drugs on the Controlled Substances Act.
The MORE Act creates a 5% sales tax on marijuana.
Expunge the records of people with prior marijuana convictions.
Allow states to create their own marijuana policy.
The legislation passed the House Judiciary Committee by a vote of 24-10, with two House Republicans, Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Tom McClintock (R-CA) voting with the Democrats, according to CBS News.
