House party shooting in Inglewood leaves four dead, one wounded, police say.

Four people were killed, and one injured in what Inglewood Mayor James Butts called an “ambush” shooting during a house party early Sunday morning, per the AP.

Emergency personnel was dispatched at 1:43 a.m. to a home on the 1300 block of Park Ave, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. At a press conference, Mayor Butts said multiple weapons were utilized, including an assault rifle and one handgun in what he described as the worst act of violence in Inglewood since the 1990s.

  • The house was being rented as an Airbnb at the time of the shooting, as per the LA Times.

  • Two of the fatalities were sisters celebrating a birthday; the two other deaths were adult males. One person is in critical condition and is expected to survive, per CBS 2.

  • The motive for the shooting remains unknown, but authorities are saying the suspects are gang-related, and Mayor Butts mentioned the victims were targeted.
