Katie Hill Resigns From Congress Amid Improper Relationship With Staffer
Freshman Congresswomen Katie Hill (D-Santa Clarita) has resigned from the House of Representatives over allegations of having a sexual relationship with her legislative director, as well as with a young staffer on her campaign.
How Did We Get Here:
Explicit images of the Congresswomen surfaced on the right-wing website RedState, which also reported that Hill was engaged in a relationship with a campaign staffer and, separately, a congressional staff member. Which would be a violation of House ethics rules recently created in the wake of the #MeToo Movement.
Last week, Hill denied allegations she had a relationship with a staff member as “absolutely false" and a "smear campaign" according to the LA Times.
Politico reported that "Hill’s decision to resign was "prompted, in part, by hopes of stemming the flow of embarrassing and defamatory reports that have popped up in multiple outlets,".
