L.A County Reports 3,000+ New Cases of Coronavirus
Los Angeles County Department of Public Health officials reported 18 new coronavirus related deaths and 3,322 new cases. At this moment, there have been 133,549 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in L.A County and a total of 3,809 deaths.
Why it matters:
The surge of coronavirus cases across the county continues to rise as more people diagnosed with the infectious virus need to be hospitalized. There are currently 2,093 people hospitalized, 26% of these people have confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the ICU, and 19% are confirmed cases on ventilators, according to L.A County health officials.
Last week, California had set the record for the most positive cases of COVID-19 in a single day with 11,694.
On Friday, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health ordered the closure of the Downtown Los Angeles garment factory, which had more than 300 confirmed coronavirus cases among its workers.
Testing results are available for over 1,336,000 individuals, with 9% of all people testing positive.
