L.B.P.D has arrested 36-year-old Colin Wolters, a resident of Long Beach, on the suspicion of killing his girlfriend at their Lakewood Village home.
Monday night, at around 8:30 p.m L.B.P.D officers responded to a call that woman potentially committed suicide at a residence on the 4600 block of Whitewood Avenue.
After receiving additional information from dispatchers alerting the officers that a possible murder may have taken place in the backhouse of the residence.
L.B.P.D says, the officers approached an adult male in the front of the back house, who immediately surrendered to officers and was taken into custody without incident. He was later identified as 36-year-old Colin Wolters.
Officers then entered the home and come across a motionless woman lying on the ground, unresponsive and not breathing, police say. The women were later determined dead at the scene by paramedics and were identified as Chelsea Smith, a 27-year-old resident of Long Beach.
Investigators determined that an altercation took place between Smith and Wolters that resulted in injuries to the victim’s upper torso.
Colin Wolters is currently being held in the Long Beach City Jail on a $2,000,000 bail.
Investigators will be presenting their case to the L.A County D.A office later this week.
