LAPD cop arrested by Long Beach police for allegedly possessing child porn

An officer with the Los Angeles Police Department faces multiple charges regarding suspicion of possessing child pornography, the LBPD announced.

Details:

Long Beach Police opened an investigation back in October after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an individual who was potentially sharing child porn online. After some time, LBPD detectives obtained enough evidence during their investigation to locate and identify 52-year-old Long Beach resident and LAPD officer James Diamond.

  • Diamond was apprehended outside of a business in Huntington Beach, and his home in Long Beach, plus his job site, was searched by law enforcement.

  • The LBPD booked Diamond on two felony counts of possession of child pornography and two felony counts of distribution of obscene matter depicting a minor. Diamond’s bail was set at $100,000.

  • The Los Angeles Police Department’s Professional Standards Bureau has been notified of Diamond’s arrest, and the department will be conducting an administrative investigation.
