LB Cop shoots man holding a paintball handgun, LBPD says
A Long Beach Police officer wounded a 28-year-old man, who allegedly was pointing a paintball gun at police early Halloween morning, according to a press release.
Officers were sent to the 1900 block of Harbor Avenue at about 1:04 a.m., after reports of gunfire. When the police arrived at the scene, one officer interacted with a male, who seemed to be holding a gun and "who pointed a weapon in the direction of the officer."
An officer believing the man was armed, shot the man in the lower body. Police gave aid until the Long Beach Fire Department arrived. He was later transported to a local hospital.
Police say the man was holding a CO2-powered paintball pistol and told the officers he was 'suicidal."
The LBPD says, "All officers were equipped with body worn cameras," and that the "department is in the process of reviewing the footage."
