LB COVID-19 Update: 34 new confirmed cases & 1 new death

City officials report 34 new cases of coronavirus and one recent death, bringing Long Beach's death toll to 209 since the start of the pandemic.
The latest victim was a male in his 80's, but he was not a resident of a long-term care facility.
Long Beach does not meet all of the state's requirements to be removed from its COVID-19 monitoring list, due to a high positivity and case rates.
Long Beach's case rate per 100,000 people stands at 168. The state requires that rate fall at or below 100 cases per 100,000 people.
