LB COVID-19 Update: One New Death & an LBPD Officer test positive
The City of Long Beach has announced the death of another resident due to the coronavirus, and 105 new cases bring the city's total of confirmed cases to 2,888.
An LBPD officer, who works in the West Patrol Division, has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee's last shift was on Sunday, June 14, and is currently recovering at home in self-isolation.
Efforts are currently underway for the cleaning of the police facility and equipment.
When asked if the officer was working during the May 31 unrest or any protest after that, LBPD spokesperson Arantxa Chavarria said, "We don't currently have that information at this time, because it is part of the contact tracing investigation".

Seven hundred thirty-six cases have been confirmed cases at a total of 29 long-term care facilities in Long Beach since the start of the pandemic.
