LB man facing murder charge in fatal shooting of a homeless man

Richard Young, a 48-year-old resident of Long Beach, has been charged with one count of murder over the back alley shooting of a 40-year-old homeless man, police say.
Details:
Yesterday, Oct 4th, while searching for Young near 7th street and Rose Ave, LBPD detectives saw Young enter a vehicle and proceeded to conduct a traffic stop. As police got close, Young bolted, resulting in a short car chase that ended after Young crashed into two cars, one of which was parked, and then proceeded to run away on foot.
The victim, identified by police as 40-year-old Juan Moreno of Long Beach, died when Young allegedly shot Moreno in an alley on the 700 block of Cerritos Ave.
Police say during the pursuit, "Detectives observed the suspect holding a firearm in his hand as he ran."
Police found the discarded gun in a backyard that will be sent to forensics investigators to check if it's linked to the shooting.
During the initial investigation, police say the victim and the suspect knew of one another, and an altercation took place before the shooting.
Young was also charged with one count of ex-felon in possession of a firearm and is currently being held in the Long Beach City jail on $2,000,000 bail.
