LBPD arrest suspect linked to West Long Beach bar shooting

Long Beach Police arrested a Wilmington man under suspicion of murdering an employee at the west Long Beach bar the Crow's Nest.


Salvador Rivera, a 33-year-old resident of Wilmington, faces murder charges in the shooting death of 39-year-old James Lopez.

  • Rivera was arrested at a traffic stop in Chino and is currently being detained at the Long Beach City jail on a $2,000,000 bail.

A bar worker was shot and killed after getting into a "verbal dispute" with a patron at the West Long Beach bar the Crow's Nest Sunday night, police said.


Gunfire erupted at roughly 10:15, inside the Crow's Nest located on the 1900 block of Willow Street in West Long Beach. The worker sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body and later died at a nearby hospital.

  • The suspect, who remains at large, discharged his weapon multiple times towards the victim.

  • LBPD officers provided medical aid to the wounded employee, and LBFD transported him to the hospital.
