LBPD investigate fatal shooting in near Ramona Park
A man in his twenties was fatally shot in North Long Beach late Saturday night, spurring a murder investigation by Long Beach Police.
LBPD officers were sent to the 6200 block of Downey Avenue in regards to a shooting. When they arrived, they came upon a man "lying on the ground near a service road, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body," according to the press release.
The officers rendered medical support to the man until Long Beach fire personnel arrived.
After transporting the victim to a nearby hospital, he would later die from his wounds.
LBPD detectives don't have a motive for the crime nor the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police have only described the victim as an adult male in his twenties.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will determine the identity of the victim and notify the next of kin.
