LBUSD is preparing for in-person graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2021

The Long Beach Unified School District announced Monday they're making preparations for holding in-person high school graduations for the class of 2021 at L.B.C.C.'s Veterans Stadium, the L.B. Post reports.

Why it matters:

Last year the district conducted graduation and promotion ceremonies primarily virtually and even held drive-thru graduations replacing the traditional rite of passage due to COVID-19 health orders.

🎓The district is considering hosting either multiple smaller ceremonies or a larger event.

🎓: A set date hasn't been picked, but it's aiming for the week of June 11 to 16.

What they're saying: “Graduations may look a little different, with reduced capacity and other safety measures, but we’re all excited at the prospect of celebrating in person with our graduates,” LBUSD spokesperson Chris Eftychiou told the Post.
