Long Beach police chief injured after being struck by a truck near El Dorado Park
LBPD Police Chief Robert Luna was injured after being hit by a truck near El Dorado Park’s Nature Center Friday.
Luna was crossing East Spring Street at about 3:45 p.m. when he was struck by a truck and knocked into multiple lanes of traffic, according to LBPD spokesperson Arantxa Chavarria.
Chief Luna’s injuries have been described as minor and he is recovering at home.
Luna was able to call for medical aid and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
LBPD says the driver remained at the scene of the collision and cooperated with the investigation and no distracted or impaired driving is believed to be a factor in the collision, Chavarria told MTLB.
What he's saying:
Luna thanked first responders and City staff, plus "everyone, for their well wishes, and I am thankful for the support I am receiving while I recuperate."
