LBPD Police Chief Robert Luna was injured after being hit by a truck near El Dorado Park’s Nature Center Friday.

Luna was crossing East Spring Street at about 3:45 p.m. when he was struck by a truck and knocked into multiple lanes of traffic, according to LBPD spokesperson Arantxa Chavarria.

  • Chief Luna’s injuries have been described as minor and he is recovering at home.

  • Luna was able to call for medical aid and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

  • LBPD says the driver remained at the scene of the collision and cooperated with the investigation and no distracted or impaired driving is believed to be a factor in the collision, Chavarria told MTLB.

What he's saying:

Luna thanked first responders and City staff, plus "everyone, for their well wishes, and I am thankful for the support I am receiving while I recuperate."
