Long Beach Public Library adds new STEAM program
The Long Beach Public Library (LBPL) is establishing a new free in-person STEAM program for youth ages 12 and up.
According to a Pew Research poll, Black and Hispanic workers "remain underrepresented" in STEM fields, which may force them into lower-paying positions.
Participants will be able to learn about interactive electronics and modular synthesizers as part of the STEAM series.
The program starts in October and will cover new themes every two weeks in the Studio Makerspace at the Billie Jean King Main Library.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, masks will be required. To maintain social distance, space will be limited on a first-come, first-served basis, the LBPL says.
