Long Beach State to hold an in-person graduation ceremony at Angel Stadium

California State University Long Beach's Commencement Office, announced that both the class of 2020 and 2021 graduation ceremonies would take place in-person at Angels Stadium in May.

If you don't know, now you know:

In an email to upcoming graduates, the university notified that Angel Stadium would host the ceremonies from May 28 to 31. typically the university held the ceremony on campus. The Angel Stadium location became a possibility after Long Beach entered the less restrictive red tier allowing open-door events at stadiums.

👨‍🎓: Only graduating students will be allowed inside the site, according to University spokesperson Jeff Cook.

👨‍🎓: According to the school's announcement, families and friends will be able to watch the ceremony from the stadium parking lot.

👨‍🎓: "There will be no processional, recessional, or stage-walking for graduates inside the stadium," according to an email sent to students.

👨‍🎓: CSULB originally planned to have a drive-through commencement but will now "pivot" to Angel Stadium after a campus-wide survey by students who preferred the venue change.

  • College of the Arts – Saturday, May 29, 9:30 a.m.

  • College of Health & Human Services – Saturday, May 29, 5 p.m.

  • College of Education – Sunday, May 30, 9:30 a.m.

  • College of Business – Sunday, May 30, 5 p.m.

  • College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics – Monday, May 31, 9:30 a.m.
