Man Accused of Fatally Stabbing a Woman on Chestnut Ave

The Long Beach Police Department has arrested a male suspect accused of stabbing a woman to death in the Washington neighborhood of Long Beach Sunday afternoon, police say.

According to police, on November 22, officers received the initial call around 1:10 p.m. and were sent to the 1400 block of Chestnut Ave to assist Long Beach Fire with an "unwelcome person call" that soon developed into a murder investigation .
When the officers arrived at the scene, they found a female victim lying on the ground in the courtyard suffering from stab wounds to her upper body.
Life-saving measures were taken, but the victim would later die at the scene from her injuries.
The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Vanessa Chacon, a resident of Long Beach.
Investigators believe that the victim and the suspect engaged in a "verbal dispute," then the situation intensified, ending in the death of the victim.
Detectives arrested 23-year-old Daquan Ross at his residence in Los Angeles. Ross was booked for murder into the Long Beach Police Department jail and held on $2,000,000 bail.
