Motorcyclist dies in crash on Pine Ave in Long Beach

Officials say a 23-year-old Long Beach man died after losing control of his motorcycle Sunday.

The Long Beach Police Department says a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by a 23-year-old male resident, lost control while traveling north on Pacific Avenue.

  • The motorcyclist would go on to hit the curb, "causing the driver to become separated from the motorcycle," ending with the motorcycle crashing into a Ford Mustang.

  • Officers performed life-saving measures until LBFD arrived and transported the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

  • The driver of the Mustang cooperated with the investigation and was released from the scene.

  • Police say they don't know if the motorcyclist was impaired at the time, but "speed is being investigated as a possible factor in the collision."
