Motorcyclist killed in collision with Hyundai, LBPD says

A Long Beach man died after a car crashed into him while driving his motorcycle in the Wilmore neighborhood, police say.

The crash occurred last Tuesday, Mar 8, at about 4 p.m., near the intersection of 7th Street and Magnolia Avenue, when a 48-year-old driver heading west on 7th Street in his 2011 Hyundai Sonata made a turn from the number-two lane to travel south onto Magnolia Avenue and hit the motorcycle.

  • The motorcyclist was a 61-year-old Long Beach resident traveling west on 7th Street in the number one lane.

  • After the crash, the motorcyclist was transferred to a nearby hospital but died a day later.

  • The Hyundai driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

  • At this time, neither speed nor impaired or distracted driving appears to be factored in this collision.
