The crash occurred, at roughly 4:40 p.m., when a black Nissan Rogue was heading north on Cherry Avenue, when the driver, described as a 55-year-old Long Beach resident, made a left turn onto Bixby Road at the intersection. A motorcyclist riding a Suzuki was heading south on Cherry Ave, but “he failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the Nissan,” police said in a news release.
The 25-year-old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by LBFD personnel.
The Nissan driver was unharmed, stayed on the scene, and helped with the inquiry.
Where things stand:
At this moment, police do not think distracted or intoxicated driving played a role in the crash; still, the investigation is ongoing. The motorcyclist's identity is only being revealed as a 25-year-old Long Beach resident.
