Updated: Feb 18, 2020

In the first officer-involved shooting of the year, L.B.P.D officers shot and killed a male suspect, who they say fired at least one shot at the officers.
Details:
The incident occurred Sunday night at roughly 10:10 pm while LBPD officers were operating on the 900 block of East 19th Street in Central Long Beach.
According to LBPD, the suspect fled police on foot after "several de-escalation attempts" from officers, but the suspect was "uncooperative".
At one point, officers used a taser to subdue the suspect but it wasn't effective.
During the altercation, police say the suspected "brandished a firearm toward one of the officers" and fired "at least one shot". The police responded back with gunfire killing the unidentified suspect.
No police officers were injured during the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
