Police chase ends in DTLB parking garage
A pursuit of a reported stolen vehicle ended Monday evening when a driver, who failed to yield, crashed inside a parking structure in Downtown Long Beach.
The pursuit began about 7 p.m. in the area of Pacific Avenue and Broadway, where the driver sped away after police initiated a traffic stop. The suspect entered a parking structure located on the 100 block of East Fifth Street, per LBP.
The driver crashed the stolen car inside the parking structure and then both occupants fled on foot.
A man and woman were captured quickly after their attempted escape, and both suspects suffered minor injuries but were medically cleared and charged.
Bad boys, bad boys:
The Long Beach police arrested Robert Angel Cervantes, a 23-year-old resident from Yakima, Washington, on multiple offenses ranging from felony pursuit, grand theft auto, driving under the influence, property damage, and resisting arrest. His bail was set at $75,000.
Cervantes's passenger Valerie Morales, a 19-year old from Whittier, was charged with resisting arrest, and her bail was set at $0.01.
