Police arrest a suspect who allegedly stole a U-Haul truck in Buena Park and took police on an hourslong chase, ending in Long Beach after the moving truck crashed into a city park late Monday night.
Details:
The pursuit started in Buena Park at roughly 8:30 p.m., and the stolen moving truck traveled through several cities in Orange and Los Angeles County, including Norwalk, Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Lakewood, and then ending in Long Beach.
At times, the suspect drove erratically, crashing into a parked car, turning off the vehicle's headlights on the 405 Freeway, while driving with a $19.99 banner blocking the windshield of the stolen U-Haul.
Police used a spike strip on the 405 Freeway, puncturing the U-Hauls' tires.
The suspect got stuck in a parking lot, and as police approached, the U-Haul jumped the curb and drove through Scherer Park, but the deflated tires impeded the moving truck. Police took the two people into custody, per ABC 7.
