Police arrest a suspect who allegedly stole a U-Haul truck in Buena Park and took police on an hourslong chase, ending in Long Beach after the moving truck crashed into a city park late Monday night.

The pursuit started in Buena Park at roughly 8:30 p.m., and the stolen moving truck traveled through several cities in Orange and Los Angeles County, including Norwalk, Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Lakewood, and then ending in Long Beach.

  • At times, the suspect drove erratically, crashing into a parked car, turning off the vehicle's headlights on the 405 Freeway, while driving with a $19.99 banner blocking the windshield of the stolen U-Haul.

  • Police used a spike strip on the 405 Freeway, puncturing the U-Hauls' tires.

  • The suspect got stuck in a parking lot, and as police approached, the U-Haul jumped the curb and drove through Scherer Park, but the deflated tires impeded the moving truck. Police took the two people into custody, per ABC 7.
