Pregnant woman & unborn child killed in an alleged road rage 3-car crash in Long Beach

A 23-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn child were killed in a three-car crash triggered by a road rage incident concerning an intoxicated driver in North Long Beach, police say.

What we know:

On August 7, officers arrived at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and 52nd Street, at about 11:36 a.m., in response to a traffic collision that resulted in a death.

  • In a press release, police say 26-year-old Miguel Larios of Long Beach was driving a 2006 GMC pickup truck "at a high rate of speed," with a female adult passenger and a 10-year-old child involved in a road rage incident "for several blocks" with another car.

The Crash: A 45-year 0ld man driving a parked 2004 Toyota Carolla was attempting to pull away from the curb and collided with Larios' GMC truck.

  • The collision caused Larios to lose control of his truck and crash into an unoccupied parked car north of 52nd Street.

  • The female passenger, who was eight months pregnant, later died at the hospital.

  • Larios has been charged with two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, one count of driving under the influence, and one count of child endangerment; his bail was set at $200,000.
