Smash-&-grab thieves hit the Home Depot in Lakewood

About eight masked thieves raided the tool aisle at the Home Depot near the Lakewood Mall Friday night, stealing sledgehammers, crowbars, and hammers, KCBS reports.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says a group of young men entered the Home Depot just before 8 p.m., located at 5000 block of Hardwick Street, comically across the street from the Lakewood Sheriff's Station.

  • Home Depot employees told Fox 11 they saw 20 people arrive in up to ten cars, clothed in ski masks.

  • The thieves fled in different directions, and one car was described as a red Mercedes-Benz.

Meanwhile, in Beverly Hills:

The Los Angeles Police Department placed the entire city under tactical alert after another smash and grab robbery occurred in afflount stores at Beverly Grove and stole several items.

  • Six smash-and-grab robberies took place in the Fairfax District, Beverly Grove and Hancock Park on Black Friday.
