Suspect under arrest after shooting at police on 4th Street in Long Beach

A man fired shots at police as they were responding to a 911 call regarding a non-hit shooting early Thursday morning at a bar on 4th Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department, per multiple reports.


Details:

Police reported to the 1200 block of East 4th Street due to reports of a person firing a gun at the Red Room bar at about 2 a.m.

  • The male suspect opened fire on the arriving officers, and a standoff ensued.

  • The LBPD SWAT team was called to the scene, and the suspect was apprehended a few hours later. Police didn't release the suspect's identity.

  • Police say no one was injured during the altercation and the precise circumstances of the shooting were still unclear.

  • During the incident, several streets were shut down on East 4th Street and Orange Avenue.
