The Long Beach Health Department announced Monday they had conducted 100,000 coronavirus test through city-run testing sites.

Today, LA County is reporting a 7-day positivity rate is 4.7%, a decrease of 45% in one month. In that same period, the county's daily hospitalizations decreased by 48%, from 2,220 on July 31 to 1,043.
As of August 28, there have been 10,437 COVID-19 cases in Long Beach, and 212 people have died. Approximately 9,387 individuals have recovered.
Why it matters:
Long Beach, along with the rest of L.A county, remains in the restrictive purple tier of Governor Newsom's newly installed state monitoring system. The positivity rate and case rate are the leading indicators of whether or not a county moves on to a less restrictive level.
