The New Yorker Suspends Jeffrey Toobin for Exposing Himself on Zoom
Updated: Oct 20, 2020
The New Yorker has suspended author and staff writer Jeffery Toobin because last week, he flashed his penis during a Zoom meeting, which included colleagues from the New Yorker and WNBC Radio, according to a Monday report by Vice.
Driving the news:
Toobin, who has been with the New Yorker for more than 25 years and currently serves as CNN's chief legal analyst, has since apologized via a statement to Vice saying, "I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my wife, family, friends, and co-workers." Adding, "I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video."
What they're saying:
New Yorker told Vice that the magazine is investigating the circumstances that led up to the incident.
CNN issued a statement to Vice saying that "Jeff Toobin has asked for some time off while he deals with a personal issue, which we have granted."
