Update: Two LASD Deputies shot in the head near the Blue Line Station in Compton
What we know so far:
Two Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies have been shot multiple times including, reportedly in the head, in an apparent 'ambush,' near the L.A. Metro Blue Line station in Compton, according to the LASD.
A surveillance video released by the L.A. County Sheriffs shows one person approaching the parked patrol car, pulling a gun, and then fired into the patrol car's passenger side several times. The shooter ran away from the scene.
According to LASD, the shooting occurred around 7:00 p.m. near the L.A. Metro Blue Line Station at 275 Willowbrook Ave.
Both the deputies, one a 31-year-old female deputy and a 24-year-old male deputy, both underwent surgery for multiple gunshot wounds.
A small group of protesters clashed with hospital security and police outside of the hospital.
LA County Sheriff's department tweeted: "To the protesters blocking the entrance & exit of the HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM yelling "We hope they die" referring to 2 LA Sheriff's ambushed today in #Compton: DO NOT BLOCK EMERGENCY ENTRIES & EXITS TO THE HOSPITAL. People's lives are at stake when ambulances can't get through."
Reporter Josie Huang, who works for KPCC, was arrested during a protest.
