USNS Mercy Hospital Ship to Return to San Diego
The USNS Mercy Hospital ship has departed from the Port of LA/Long Beach this Friday and return to San Diego after a seven-week deployment, the Governor's Office of Emergency Services says.
The hospital ship arrived on March 27th and treated 77 patients during its deployment.
The USNS Mercy's medical personnel will remain in the Greater Los Angeles area to support California’s response efforts.
The Mercy did not treat COVID-19 patients. Rather, the hospital ship provided medical care to other patients suffering from other non-COVID related aliments says Business Insider.
Several members of the USNS Mercy's medical staff contracted the coronavirus.
