Woman Dies After Being Hit by a Car in Cal Heights

A woman is dead after a Mercedes struck and killed her while she was allegedly in the roadway Wednesday night, as stated by the LBPD.
Details:
According to police, the collision occurred roughly at 10:30 p.m, near the 300 block of East Wardlow Road. Investigators think a 2007 Mercedes operated by a 65-year-old Long Beach resident was driving east on Wardlow Road when she hit a pedestrian in the roadway and not in a crosswalk.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol, drugs, and distracted driving are not believed to have been a factor in the collision.
The driver was positively identified with her valid driver’s license, had proof of insurance, and was released from the scene, pending further investigation.
Long Beach Fire provided life-saving measures, and she was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
