Woman Dies After Being Hit by a Car in Cal Heights

A woman is dead after a Mercedes struck and killed her while she was allegedly in the roadway Wednesday night, as stated by the LBPD.

According to police, the collision occurred roughly at 10:30 p.m, near the 300 block of East Wardlow Road. Investigators think a 2007 Mercedes operated by a 65-year-old Long Beach resident was driving east on Wardlow Road when she hit a pedestrian in the roadway and not in a crosswalk.

  • The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol, drugs, and distracted driving are not believed to have been a factor in the collision.

  • The driver was positively identified with her valid driver’s license, had proof of insurance, and was released from the scene, pending further investigation.

  • Long Beach Fire provided life-saving measures, and she was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
