LBPD spokesperson Arantxa Chavarria confirmed to MTLB that police responded to the incident after receiving a 911 call at approximately 5:35 pm regarding a report of battery.
A woman in black "entered the store refusing to wear a mask," and she caused an "altercation with other customers."
The woman initially left the Vons, and officers responded when she returned a short time later.
None of the parties involved desired prosecution, and the subject agreed to leave the location.
A woman was forcibly removed from a Vons Supermarket in Belmont Shore for shopping without wearing a facemask and assaulting customers.
Twitter user Jord posted the video of the incident, which is believed to have occurred sometime Saturday, August 22nd, at the Vons Belmont Shore location on 3900 Ocean Ave. According to the Twitter user, the woman in the black dress was asked to leave by store management for not wearing a mask. She became belligerent, even assaulting "multiple customers and pepper-sprayed" people before the Twitter user started recording the violent outburst. The 18-second video shows what appears to be two mask-wearing shoppers physically removing the woman from the store.
MTLB reached out to the Vons store in Belmont Shore, but the store manager didn't want to comment on it.
